Overview
Global motor efficiency, sourced and supported in the Philippines
ALPS MSI is a channel partner for ABB, covering Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRM), low voltage motors, medium voltage motors, and ACS880 drives. You get ABB’s energy-efficient range with local supply, sizing support, and installation.
For plants chasing energy savings, the standout is the IE1 to IE4/IE5 SynRM retrofit. It lifts efficiency without changing how the motor fits your line. Pair it with the right drive and the package works harder still.

SynRM IE4/IE5
ABB synchronous reluctance motors combine the performance of a permanent magnet motor with the simplicity and service-friendliness of an induction motor. The magnet-free, rare-earth-free design reaches IE5 ultra-premium efficiency, cutting energy losses and running cooler.
This is the retrofit that pays for itself. Swap an ageing IE1 motor for a SynRM and the duty stays the same while the losses drop. We size it, supply it, and commission it with laser alignment so the saving shows up in the first billing cycle, not the third.
Key features
- Magnet-free and rare-earth-free design
- Up to IE5 ultra-premium efficiency, with lower losses and cooler running
- Safe area, increased safety, and liquid-cooled variants
- Pairs with an ABB drive for an optimised motor and drive package

LV/MV motors
ABB low voltage motors are built for reliability and ruggedness across every industrial sector. Cast-iron general-performance motors are available across efficiency classes up to IE4, in both IEC and NEMA frames, and run direct-on-line or as an optimised motor-and-drive package.
For the larger duties, medium voltage machines come through the same channel partnership. We handle the specification and sizing, coordinate delivery, and install with precision alignment. When the motor eventually needs work, it goes through our own EASA-standard repair shop rather than a queue offshore.
Key features
- IEC and NEMA frames for global applications
- Cast-iron general-performance motors up to IE4 efficiency
- Medium voltage machines available through the same partnership
- Run direct-on-line or as an optimised motor-and-drive package
- Built for demanding industrial environments

ACS880 drive
The ACS880 single drives run single-motor applications in a compact, ready-to-use package across a wide power and voltage range. ABB Direct Torque Control and Safe Torque Off come as standard, with broad fieldbus support and low-harmonic and regenerative options.
A drive is where a lot of the energy saving actually lands. Run a fan or pump at the speed the process needs instead of throttling it, and the motor stops paying for work nobody uses. Paired with an ABB motor, the two form an optimised package we can size, supply, and commission together.
Key features
- Wide power and voltage range for most plant duties
- ABB Direct Torque Control and Safe Torque Off as standard
- Broad fieldbus support
- Runs standard motors, optimised with an ABB motor

How we work
Four steps from a look at your existing motors to a machine running on a new one.
1
Review
We look at your existing motors and where energy is being lost.
2
Specify
The right ABB SynRM or LV/MV motor is selected for the duty.
3
Supply
Motors are sourced through our ABB channel partnership.

FAQs
No. ALPS is an ABB Channel Partner for SynRM, low voltage and medium voltage motors, and ACS880 drives. We supply and specify ABB equipment and handle repairs through our own EASA-standard shop.
A Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) reaches IE4 and IE5 efficiency, the highest standard classes. Replacing older IE1 motors cuts the energy wasted as heat. In one retrofit for a banana-producing and exporting company in the Philippines, it cut energy use by over 75% per motor.
Yes. We supply ABB ACS880 single drives through the same channel partnership. They run single-motor applications across a wide power and voltage range, with Direct Torque Control and Safe Torque Off as standard.
Yes. The ACS880 runs standard motors. Paired with an ABB motor it forms an optimised package, but you do not have to replace the motor to add a drive.
Yes. Supply is coordinated with installation and laser alignment so the new motor or drive runs efficiently from the start.
